About Cape Catley |
| Cape Catley is a small independent publishing house established in New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds in 1973 by Christine Cole Catley. Now located on Auckland's North Shore Cape Catley continues its commitment to books that provide a unique New Zealand perspective on life. Cape Catley publications traverse a wide range of topics and writing styles from fiction and poetry to biography and non-fiction. Included in the extensive range of titles published since the 1970s are collections of poetry, discourses on social justice and feminism, children's books, biographies and autobiographies and health related topics. Within New Zealand Cape Catley is distributed by HarperCollins Publishers (New Zealand) Ltd.
Christine Cole Catley (MA, DCNZM, QSM) Chris entered publishing as a freelance editor for what was then New Zealand's pre-eminent publishing firm A H and A W Reed Ltd. She began her own firm in 1973 when she and her husband, engineer Doug Catley, sailed off to the Marlborough Sounds in their yacht Pelagian. She had headed New Zealand's first polytechnic journalism course, been a book and theatre reviewer and the first television critic for The Dominion and the Dominion Sunday Times. |
